There are many people who want to open their own text fundraiser for their own nonprofit, church or political campaign. However, it is unfortunate that most of these people will find that their efforts will not be very successful. Subsequently, a lot of people are going to find themselves feeling very down about their inability to generate the money they need for their particular cause. It should be noted that most of the time this is not the fault of the text fundraising campaign. The truth is that the fundraiser would work under different circumstances. Of course, this all depends on how it is marketed. It also matters who it is marketed to when it is pushed out into the marketplace.

The bare-bones truth is that there are many campaigns that succeed in the very same vertical as well as using the same platform as the unsuccessful campaign. Therefore, the success or unsuccess of the campaign is attributed to something other than the text-based giving platform. However, most of the time it is the first thing that most people blame when they try to figure out what happened to their particular fundraising endeavor. Moreover, your ability to generate the money you need may be linked to the knowledge that you have in your brain currently. Therefore, a few tips may help you generate more money than you would have believed it could do beforehand.

The first thing to do

The first thing you need to do is to know that you need to have realistic expectations. What we mean by saying realistic expectations is that you need to understand human nature. Therefore, you need to understand that some people will not like the fact that they have to give up their cell phone number in order to make a text donation. You know your congregation, support group, or base better than anyone else. You will have to figure out if you can get this action to happen for some of the people on your list. If you can then you can open up your avenues of generating more support and money. You do get that support through text giving. Keep in mind that this is within reason and commonsense with respect to your base group of supporters.

Are your supporters tech-savvy enough for a text fundraiser?

However, if your support base is not very tech-savvy then you may have trouble getting all of the possible donations you could get. You will have to factor that into your expectations from the very beginning. Keeping your expectations to a realistic level will help you figure out what you should expect from your campaign. It also helps you figure out how likely it is that people are going to open and listen to the message in your text message. If they open and read your text message then it is likely that they will support you and donate money.

It is important to note that you only have to do this if you are soliciting donations through text. If you are running a text-free campaign where you are just telling people to send money through text then you probably will not have to worry about deliverability and open rates. Although, it does not solve the problem of requiring a cell phone number to be used to make the donation.

A solution to the text fundraiser problem

However, a certain type of individual in the marketplace will use something like a text emulator or some other service. They do so that they do not have to use their own cell phone number. They can use it to make a donation to your campaign without giving up information. What you need to keep in mind is that it might be hard to contact these people again. For example, if they only use this number for your then they get rid of it soon after

People who are more tech-savvy may find that making a donation through text is extremely easy to do. They may be enthused about trying the new method. You may be able to get more donations by following such a method. You may even encourage the less savvy tech people to try it.  They may schedule their own monthly program of giving to your cause.
