Everyone knows that they should be giving to their local church. It is one of the most important things to do. Our church communities do a lot of work that must be done and are imperative to the health and well being of the community. However, that does not mean that everyone does contribute to the local church for a variety of reasons. We can get bogged down in the minutiae of why but that does not really help you. What you need is a solution to get more donations into your ministry so that you can help more people and extend your reach. You know how much difference a few dollars here and there will push your ministry to the next level. Therefore, we should focus on a simple solution to get you to that next level. Honestly, it is sometimes as simple as adding another way to give to your church. But, we will talk more about that in the coming sentences and paragraphs.
It should also be mentioned that tithing is not the only form of giving to your ministry. There are services your community that can provide you that can really help you grow your reach. It might be smart to avail them for this purpose. Some of you, no doubt, will need the help of your flock to create and maintain the system we will talk about later. Giving is giving and whether if it is money or help that gets more money does not matter. Either is good and the latter might even be better if it is a scalable activity you can use to get more financial support in your business. Does this mean that you should not still get financial support from those people? No. It does not. It just means that, if you had to choose, then some of those people’s skills and knowledge would bring in more financial support than a gift of money to your ministry. Finding those people and using their skills is important for you to reach the next phase of growing your church.
Assessing the skills and knowledge of your flock is very essential to this step. You never know what is out there until you start asking. It also does not mean that you should force or guilt your people into working with you. You should work with them as they feel led to do so. Just as you should only do this if you feel compelled by God to do so.
A simple survey of the people who are willing to do more for your church is more than enough. You can isolate those people who are willing to donate more and then segment those people down to their skill sets. It is true that you may not find someone who can handle opening up your ministry more to things like online donation programs but you will find skills you will find useful.
Remember that you should be respectful of people’s time. We know that you need help but asking for more than what they can give you is a problem. It can bring about bad feelings and demotivate people from working with your ministry. If you do find some tech-savvy people then you can start looking into the world of online donations.
There are several platforms by which you can extend your message. You just have to be willing to adapt to those platforms. The mistake most ministries and other businesses make when they enter one of these ecosystems is that they try to dominate the system with what they want to say. They do not join the community outright and talk to them the way they want to be talked to and talk to each other every day. That is where your tech-savvy people come into play. If you are lucky and/or chosen to have an effective ministry on one of these platforms then you will find someone who is knowledgeable about using those platforms. They can help you join the conversation naturally instead of trying to push your agenda on the systems.
Your relationship with these people on these platforms is like any other relationship. You are going to have to figure out how you will communicate with each other and what is allowed and what is disallowed. The best way to do this is to learn the ground rules first by becoming a part of other communities and understanding the dynamics of how they talk in those communities.
Your ability to seamlessly enter this space determines how successful you will be at getting more support and converting souls. Therefore, if you do not know the platform well then you should get the help you need to understand it and make educated guesses on what you should be saying and how to say it. Of course, this all needs to go through the lens or focus of your ministry but it is the best way for you to get what you want while giving the community what they want.
